How to Create an Enquiry Form That Opens in WhatsApp

A step-by-step tutorial on building an enquiry form that opens WhatsApp on submission — delivering the customer's details directly to your phone.

What "Opens in WhatsApp" Actually Means

A WhatsApp enquiry form works differently from a standard web form. When a customer hits Submit, instead of showing a "Thank you" page:

  • The customer's WhatsApp app opens automatically (on mobile) or WhatsApp Web opens (on desktop)
  • A pre-written message is pre-filled with all the customer's form answers
  • The customer sees the filled message addressed to your number
  • They tap Send — and it's delivered to your WhatsApp instantly
  • This is the key mechanic that makes WhatsApp forms powerful: the submission flows through the customer's own WhatsApp, creating a direct connection between them and your number.

    Building This Form on WhatsLead

Step 1: Sign in at WhatsLead

Go to whatslead.in/login and sign in with Google. Free, takes 30 seconds.

    Step 2: Create New Form

Click New Form and give it a name (e.g. "Customer Enquiry Form").

    Step 3: Add Your Fields

Use the form builder to add your fields:

  • Name — short text
  • Phone Number — phone field (validates format)
  • What are you looking for? — dropdown with your services
  • Budget — dropdown with ranges
  • Message / Additional details — paragraph text (optional)
  • Step 4: Configure WhatsApp Delivery

In the form settings, enter your WhatsApp number with country code. This is where submissions will be sent.

Step 5: Customise the Form Appearance

Upload your logo, set your brand colour, and customise the submit button text (e.g. "Send enquiry to WhatsApp").

    Step 6: Publish and Test

Click Publish. Use the preview to submit a test entry from your own phone. Verify the message arrives in your WhatsApp with all fields correctly formatted.

    Step 7: Share the Link

Copy your form URL and share it everywhere your customers are: Instagram bio, Google Business Profile, WhatsApp Status, your website.

    Testing Tip

Always test your form on a mobile device before sharing. Open it on your phone, fill it, hit Send, and confirm you receive the WhatsApp message with the correct information. A 2-minute test can save you weeks of missed leads.
